25 Auchi Sons, Daughters get YZK Foundation Scholarship Awards for 2023-2024 Academic Session

The Alhaji Zekeri Kadiri Memorial Scholarship and Dr. Yahaya & Mrs. Lami Zekeri Kadiri Scholarship Schemes have on Saturday the 3rd of August given tuition aids in cash to no fewer than 25 awardees under their Medical and STEM scholarship programme for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Held at the Auchi Royal Palace, the awarding event was attended by members of the Otaru-in-Council which comprises the various Village heads, Palace chiefs as well as members of key community based committees.

Chief Umoru Hakim, the Ōtōta of Auchi Sacred Kingdom who anchored the seeming ceremony appreciated the donors and specially thanked Mallam Ahmed Kadiri, the younger brother of Dr. Yahaya Zekeri Kadiri for always being there to help facilitate the process and for being available for the presentation of the awards despite being far away from home every year.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the scholarship awards to the various awardees.

Each Medical student from the lot of 7 beneficiaries got the sum of two hundred and forty thousand Naira (#240,000) while the remaining 18 awardees from the STEM category got one hundred and twenty thousand Naira each.

Special remarks were made by Dr. Tijani Oseni who enjoined all to support the donors in keeping the foundation on through prayers and contribution of resources requisite for pulling through scholarship programmes.

Laying emphasis on the need for such support, he encouraged the beneficiaries to be studious in ensuring that they excel in their academics with a view to encouraging the donors to do more.

Dr. Tijani appealed for a percentage of the YZK Scholarship Scheme to be allocated to truly indigent children who are intelligent and are deserving of such scholarships -noting that when these children get the support needed to thrive academically they will naturally do well.

Additionally, Hajia Aminat Aperua-Yusuf, Chairperson of the Auchi Health Committee thanked the donors for their magnanimity and encouraged all to pray for YZK to continue to thrive despite the harsh economic realities of the day.

On his part, Chief Sule Yesufu, Daudu of Aibotse showered encomium on the donors for always pulling through the scholarship scheme and commended the facilitators for running the programme purely on merit -noting that such would put more Auchi undergraduate students on their toes to do better so that they too can benefit in future episodes of the YZK Scholarship Scheme.

Advising the beneficiaries on the need to give back to the society when they come of age and are all to do, Daudu Yesufu tasked the Awardees to take the awards with the hopes that one day they would also be in a position to help others.

According to Mr. Ahmed Kadiri, facilitator of the YZK Scholarship Scheme, “The scholarship awards presented today are designed to ensure that the sons and daughters of Auchi Sacred Kingdom are well-educated and academically oriented.

“Our goal is to provide financial support specifically to science-based students in various tertiary institutions, helping them advance their studies and foster a strong foundation in their fields.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting educational excellence and supporting the future leaders of our community.” he said.
