“It’s a timeless competition.” -Hon. Hussein
Member, representing the good people of Etsako West Constituency 1 of Edo state has kicked off the maiden edition of what he describes as a timeless footballing tournament in his constituency.
He told Journalists on Saturday in Agbede that the tournament is intended to on the one hand engage youths of Etsako West -taking their minds off criminal tendencies as they pursue their dreams in football and on the other hand enable the youths to contribute their quota to national development through sporting activities.
Honorable Hussein noted that beyond politics and beyond his term in office as a member representing his people in the Edo state House of Assembly, he is poised at ensuring that the requisit opportunities and avenues for youths to achieve their dreams are provided -stating that sports and of course football gives ample opportunity for young talents to showcase their prowess.
“This is going to continue. It is a timeless tournament for the youths and I’m going to use the necessary resources (human and material) available to me to help promote local sports and athletes because they would in turn use the avenue to become better for themselves and their family and for the society.” he said.
Hussein called on all well meaning sons and daughters of Etsako West and beyond to support every cause set up for the advancement of their various communities -noting that the betterment of the society is not exclusively the job of government and those representing the people there but more so about the collective efforts of the people with whom ultimate power reside.
He encouraged the footballers to be disciplined, cool headed and adhere to the rules of the game -stating that the rewards there in doing the right things are positive, bountiful and immeasurable.
The maiden match which was between Ward 7 and Ward 8 saw Ward 8 severely trashed by 5 goals to nothing in the the hands of a more organized Ward 7 team.
