“We Need to Reach out to more Children” -Amidat Ilegar Austine Speaks on Miss Afenmai Humanitarian Projects

The CEO of TOWA TV and convener of Miss Afenmai Beauty Pageant has during a conversation with The Community’s Eye related how engaging in charitable gestures makes her feel.

Amidat in the aftermath of the Doling out of school sandals and other essentials to pupils in primary schools across Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State noted that the fulfillment and feeling of satisfaction that comes with helping to fill certain needs gap for the poor and less privileged is often priceless.

She told ABS News Network in Auchi Sacred Kingdom that it has become the tradition of team Miss Afenmai to always seek out areas of needs and to network people and resources with a view to filling the needs gap so detected.

“As you know, it has always been the tradition of Miss Afenmai to undertake projects centered on humanity, from “Widows Must Smile” to spelling bee competitions and free medical outreaches.

“This year, we focused on our immediate environment, particularly the children and the education sector.

“Initially, we planned to buy books for the kids. However, during our research, we noticed many children walking home in slippers.

“We realized that the issue extended beyond just books to the basic need for proper footwear for school. So, we took action.” She said while explaining why her team chose the peculiar project it undertook recently.

She stated that one of the peak moments of the educational outreach to her was the palpable joy she saw in the faces of the kids as they quickly replaced their old and worn-out footwears with the new ones they got.

“Today, we saw a particular child who, after receiving his sandals, quietly walked back to his school to store his worn-out slippers.

“The gratitude and happiness on his face were immensely fulfilling.” She said.

However, she decried the challenges that often come with carrying out humanitarian services and projects in our clime -noting that despite the challenges, God has always been her number 1 supporter.

“Of course, there are challenges.

“It’s more difficult to do charity work while managing personal responsibilities, but we believe that God supports us in our mission. We need more support.

“When we left Iyekhei Primary School, it was clear that many children needed this gesture of love, but we couldn’t help them all due to a lack of sufficient sandals.

“That broke my heart. We need to reach more children. She said.

Amidat noted that to keep the tradition of charitably reaching out to the needy and less privileged, her team needed resources (human and material resources) as she hopes to extend the outreach beyond the shores of Etsako West in subsequent editions.

“We require funds to provide more sandals. Miss Afenmai’s initiative must extend beyond Etsako West to touch every local government, ensuring fair and comprehensive support.” She stated.

She appealed that parents, guardians and the society should truly care for children and without same, the future would be a mirage.

“Children are the leaders of tomorrow. Laying a good foundation for them is essential.

“At this young age, they learn quickly, so it’s crucial they learn the right things.” She said.

Amidat appreciated her supporters praying for their continued positive growth.

“Special thanks to Prince Jafaru Momoh, Mr. Noel Idonigie, Hon. Ganiyu Akokhia, Mrs. Victoria Amu, Mr. MA Obomeghei, Mr. Sally Attah, Mr. Promise, Mr. Peter Ilegar, Mr. Umanu Elijah (TUDI Africa), Uncle Clem Osikhena, Mr. Adams Sado, Dr. Odion Oziegbe, the Miss Okpella pageant, and my association, Solidarity Movement for Afemai Youth Initiative, where I serve as Vice President. Thank you all.” She concluded.
