May Day: Deputy Rector Laud Staff of Auchi Polytechnic, says It’s a Day of Expectation

Dr. Muhammed Adamu Obomeghie, Deputy Rector Academics has lauded the efforts of staff of Auchi Polytechnic. He commended them for playing their part not only in the academic success of students but more so, for the development of Nigeria.

He expressed appreciation of the polytechnic workers on Wednesday, 1st of May at the Sports Complex where both academic and administrative staff of the Polytechnic converged to mark the World International Workers Day with a football novelty match.

“Today is workers day and it is being celebrated all over the world. It is a day that workers set aside to evaluate their work during the cause of the year.

“To us, workers’ day is a day of hope and this year’s Workers’ Day is a day of expectation as we expect the Government to give us a lift in whatever we request for the cost of doing our job.

“It is a good thing we are here and I’m very happy with the way we are celebrating it in Auchi Polytechnic.” He said.

The D.R. Academics told ABS News Network that the management of the tertiary institution of academics is proud of her workforce -noting that it is only normal that the best is expected from them.

“Firstly, I have to praise the staff of Auchi Polytechnic (on behalf of my principal). They have been doing well and we expect them to keep doing well.

“We know the economy is currently biting hard but we do believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel and we employ our staff to keep putting in their best.” He said.

He told ABS that the management of Auchi Polytechnic prioritizes the welfare of her staff -noting that “For us, we don’t wait for a particular day before we do what we are supposed to do.

” We ensure that we take good care of our workers, but the one we can do today is to come together with the staff -Junior, Senior, Academic and non-academic staff to celebrate by having a novelty match and to merry together after the match. He concluded.

The Deputy Rector while speaking to the current ongoing debate over the National Minimum Wage stated that staff are optimistic that the Federal Government would give a favourable feedback -noting that the Edo state government had in a recent update upgraded the minimum wage to #70,000 for the state civil service.

He expressed optimism and prayed that a good outcome comes from the FG sooner than expected.
