With the installation of a solar-powered E-learning facility donated by Apostle Johnson Suleman to the management of Auchi Polytechnic, plans geared towards the conduct of computer-based exams for students of the institution have climaxed.
The manifestation of this ICT Facility has brought about the commencement of CBE exercises as was observed in the School of Information and Communication Technology on Wednesday by HND 1 students of the Department of Computer Science.
According to management, this marks the gradual movement away from pen-on-paper (POP) examinations in an ever-evolving ICT-driven world.

Speaking on the readiness of the facility for the task of computer based examinations, Mr. Sadoh D. Emmanuel, Manager of the Apostle Johnson Suleman E-Learning Center noted that everything is in top gear. He said that no complaint has been filed by any of the students who have been using the computers for their first exam and noted that management has provided proactive measures to absorb any challenges that may come up in the cause of the computer-based exams.
It was observed that the installed solar-powered system, the server, and the over a hundred computers were in perfect working condition –creating a conducive environment for both the students and staff therein.
One of the HND 1 students who chose to be identified as Peter while speaking on his experience noted that the CBE system was by far better than the exercise of writing on paper during examinations –stressing that it saves time and that the environment was very conducive for the conduct of his exam earlier in the day.
It should be noted that with the commencement of CBE exercises in the school of ICT –beginning with a select class of students across all the departments of the school, management of Auchi Polytechnic is well on her path towards evolving from pen on paper examinations towards a system where every department across all the schools will examine their students through the use of an ICT driven system.
