Afemai Coalition for Asue Ighodalo Strengthens Community Ties in Auchi

On a sunny Friday afternoon, following Jumaat prayers, the Afemai Coalition for Asue Ighodalo met with the Assembly Men Association of Auchi under the shade of the legendary cherry tree at Afaedokhai Iyetse, Utsogun Auchi. Despite the scorching sun, the atmosphere was engaging and conducive to meaningful conversations.

The Coalition, a support group for the front-runner of the Edo 2024 Governorship Elections, appreciated the opportunity to share Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s vision for a greater Edo and the impactful projects executed in Edo North, including:

1. Borehole rehabilitation

2. Transformer repairs

3. Solar street light provision

4. Empowerment of indigent women in small-scale businesses

5. Support for Iyekhei Primary Health Care Centre

6. Repair of Auchi Comprehensive High School’s damaged roof

The Assembly Men commended the Coalition and highlighted additional projects undertaken by Dr. Asue Ighodalo in the Auchi community. They expressed excitement about the potential for a better Edo under his leadership. They also discussed their efforts to illuminate their community with solar lights and requested support to complement their initiatives, which have led to the procurement and installation of solar lights.

The day continued with a meeting with the Iyekhei Vigilante group, which provides security for the Iyekhei heritage zone of the Auchi Sacred Kingdom. The group welcomed the Coalition and emphasized that development cannot occur without security, which aligns with Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s campaign priority to fix security and unlock economic opportunities in Edo State. The state’s revered traditional institutions, with their international appeal, can be a major forex earner for Edo and Nigeria.

As a show of support, the Coalition provided the Vigilante group with safety and security devices to enhance their efficiency in ensuring the safety and security of their community.

Iyekhei is also the community that benefited from the support of a medical doctor for the Utsokwili Primary Health Care Centre, this excited the group and promised to spread this very great gesture with the entire community.

Notably, the Afemai Coalition for Asue Ighodalo is the major sponsor of the ongoing 7th Edition of the Iyekhei Sports Festival. This festival brings together youths from the 14 families that make up the community, fostering unity, fitness, and talent discovery.
