“AI has come to stay, make the best use of it” -Dr. S.S. Umar
The Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar has informed staff, students of the Polytechnic that Artificial Intelligence has come to stay -bringing with it, all that can positively advance the living standard of members of the Polytechnic Community.
He related this in the cause of the opening ceremony of the School of Information and Communication Technology’s 13th Annual Physical and Virtual Conference held at the Polytechnic’s Library Hall in Area 1 on Tueday, 28th of May.
While declaring the conference open, Dr. S.S. Umar noted that Artificial Intelligence is revolutionizing the world of academics and that it was only appropriate for staff and students to take advantage of the new era to better themselves through the acquisition of the knowledge of AI to stay relevant in the current reality.
“Without the knowledge of AI one would find him/herself redundant in an ever evolving world of digital technology.” he said.
He called on all, digital and none digital natives to do well to maximize the potential gains of the new normal (Artificial intelligence) -stating that it would be abnormal for staff and students of the Citadel of higher education to still be trapped in the yeateryears of analogue technology in an era when any and everything can be digitized.
He addressed all in line with the theme of SICT’s 13th Conference -Artificial Intelligence: Emerging Trends in Digital Economy and declared the event open.
