Auchi Polytechnic Hosts Orientation Programme for New Students, Warns Against Cultism

Auchi Polytechnic, a renowned institution in Edo State, recently held an orientation programme at its Main Campus, located in the heart of Auchi, the headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area. The event aimed to familiarize newly admitted students of HND1 and ND1 with the institution’s operations and expectations.

The Deputy Registrar Academics, Mr. I. M. Olumese, delivered the first lecture on the institution’s important rules and regulations. Following Mr. Olumese’s session, Dr. Shaka Mahmud took the podium to address a critical issue affecting campuses nationwide—cultism. He highlighted the numerous dangers associated with cult activities and reiterated Auchi Polytechnic’s zero-tolerance policy towards cultism. Health and wellbeing were next on the agenda, with Dr. Ahmed A. E., the Medical Director of Auchi Polytechnic Cottage Hospital, delivering a comprehensive lecture on health services available to students. Dr. Ahmed provided an overview of the health facilities within the campus and encouraged students to utilize these resources to maintain their well-being throughout their academic journey.

The orientation programme also featured a lecture on student safety and internal control mechanisms by Dr. Bello A. O., the Director of SERVICOM. Dr. Bello guided students through various safety measures and procedures to follow in case of emergencies. He also warned against falling victim to scammers, fraudsters, and impersonators, urging students to remain vigilant both on and off campus.

To conclude the series of lectures, Mr. Bashiru K. Isah from Leadway Assurance discussed the importance of insurance. He encouraged students to sign up for insurance policies to safeguard their futures and protect against unforeseen circumstances.
