Ex BORBDA Boss, Siblings Imortalize Parents with a Mosque Project in Auchi

In a remarkable gesture of filial piety and community service, Chief Engr. Saliu Ahmed, former Managing Director of Benin Owenna River Basin Development Authority, together with his siblings, has erected a Masjid in honor of their parents, Alhaji Mikailu (deceased) and Alhaja Unera Ahmed, in Auchi, the headquarters of Etsako West Local Government area of Edo State.

The inauguration event, which coincided with the 88th birthday of their mother, Hajia Unera, was held at Idanirace village, the site of the new Masjid.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of prominent figures, including the Chief Imam of Auchi, Prof. Zakariya Idris Oboh Oseni, who also serves as the Waziri of the community; Alhaji Chief Dr. Suleman Imonikhe Momoh, the Imam II and Takobi of the community; Hon. Hussein Lecky, who was represented by Alhaji Jabir Giwa; Alhaji Jim Garuba, the Daudu of Utsogun; the Daudu of Ughidane; Prince Dr. Nasiru Ikharo, Hon. Sidi Usman and a host of other dignitaries from Auchi and beyond.

Prof. Z. I. Oseni, the Chief Imam of Auchi declared the Masjid open officially for use and prayed to the Almighty Allah to bless and reward the efforts of the children of Alhaji Mikailu as well as all who contributed in seeing the Mosque project to fruition.
Special prayers were said for the family as well as for the geometric progression of Auchi and the holy Qur’an was recited as a seal to amplify the acceptance of the said prayers by the Almighty.

In his address, Chief Saliu Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the people of Auchi for their commitment to peaceful coexistence and brotherly love. He emphasized the importance of peace as a foundation for development and urged the community to continue in this spirit. Chief Ahmed also extended his appreciation to Mallam Shehu for generously providing the land on which the Masjid was built, praying that Allah rewards him abundantly for his act of kindness.

Chief Ahmed’s central message was a heartfelt appeal to children to honor their parents with projects that serve as Sadakatul Jariya—charitable acts that yield unending rewards from Allah.
