Ikelebe Secondary School Hosts Thrilling Inter-House Sporting Competition in Auchi Sacred Kingdom

Ikelebe Secondary School recently held its highly anticipated inter-house sporting competition, bringing together students from various classes for a day of excitement, teamwork, and healthy competition. The event, which took place at the school grounds in Auchi, the headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area, featured a wide range of sporting activities designed to promote physical fitness, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among students.
The competition kicked off with a colorful march past, as representatives from the four houses—Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue—paraded in their respective colors, showcasing their pride and enthusiasm. The event was facilitated by the school’s principal, Mrs. Okoh Naomi Sefiat, alongside her dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff, who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the program.
The inter-house-sports competition featured a variety of sporting events, including traditional races such as the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 1,500 meters, as well as unique and entertaining games like the sack race, blind race, and egg race. Indoor games such as Scrabble, Ludo, and blind pick also added a touch of intellectual challenge to the event. However, the highlight of the day was the football match, often referred to as the “father of all games,” which drew cheers and applause from the audience.
The competition was graced by notable community stakeholders and government representatives, who emphasized the importance of sports in the development of teenagers. Among the distinguished guests were Hon. Hussein Lecky, member representing Etsako West Constituency 1 at the Edo State House of Assembly; Chief Dr. Abu Inu-Umoru; and Kadiri Jeremiah Enaholo, founder of AUCHI BLOG & SERVICES. After a day of intense competition, Green House emerged the overall winner, securing the first position. Red House claimed the second position, while Yellow House took third place, leaving Blue House in fourth place. The students’ active participation and determination brought pride to their respective houses and sponsors, making the event a memorable experience for all.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Okoh Naomi Sefiat commended the students for their sportsmanship and encouraged them to continue pursuing excellence both on and off the field. She also expressed her gratitude to the stakeholders, sponsors, and staff for their unwavering support in making the event a success.
