In an interview that took place in the early hours of June 11, 2024 residents of Ikpera Abuda Solo Street, situated on Ekhei Girls Road, are distressed by the deteriorating state of their road, which has been severely affected by heavy rainfall, leading to erosion and rendering it impassable for both residents and motorists.
Mr. Alex Ichie, a long-time resident of over 20 years, expressed his exasperation, stating that the community is constantly anxious during rainy days. He’s calling out the government to address the issue.
Mrs. Dodo, another resident, emphasized the daily challenges they face, including the difficulty elderly residents experience in accessing the road. She noted that business owners have lost customers due to the road’s condition, with some even losing properties to erosion caused by heavy rainfall.
The residents are urgently appealing to the government to intervene and repair the road, restoring access for both residents and the general public. The situation has left many feeling hopeless, wondering if the road will ever be repaired. The residents’ plea highlights the pressing need for infrastructure attention in the area.
