Supported by UK International Development, the program was co-organized by ANEEJ and the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room in partnership with Justice Development and Peace Commission/Caritas (JDPC), Auchi Throughout the rally, flyers with messages such as “Vote Don’t Fight, There is Life After Election” and “Say No to Election Violence” were distributed to the public.

The Assistant executive Director of JDPC Auchi, Rev. Afemike Bartholomew in his speech noted that life continues beyond elections and encouraged all to go out and vote without any recourse to violence.

“Let us remember, ‘life after elections is a reality. As we exercise our civic duty and participate in the democratic process, let us conduct ourselves with dignity and respect. We must not allow our passion for our preferred candidates or parties to cloud our judgment, leading to chaos, violence, or division. Instead, let us engage in constructive dialogue, respect opposing views, and prioritize the well-being of our communities.” He said.

Mrs. Adebayo Sharon, the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer of the National Orientation Angency, encouraged voters in Auchi to turn out and cast their ballots peacefully on election day. She expressed confidence that the people of Edo State could vote for their preferred candidates without violence, gunfire, or loss of life.

As peace messages were shared, participants were also reminded to avoid being manipulated by politicians into stealing ballot boxes and to reject any financial inducements in exchange for their votes.
