His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, executive governor of Edo State has visited HRH, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom on Tuesday evening for the last time as a Governor to break the Ramadhan Fast with the Monarch at the Auchi Royal Palace.
It is on record that for the past 8 years of Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s reign as Governor of Edo State, it had become tradition to observe this seeming ritual with His Highness every Ramadhan with a view to empathizing with the Muslim Community -sharing in their experience while contributing charitably to ensuring that observers of the holy season of spiritual exercises are able to go through same with the requisite resources.
Godwin expressed elation over the matured disposition of the Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom on matters bordering his administration as Governor of Edo State -noting that the 90 years young Monarch had in no small measure offered invaluable counsel and prayers which contributed largely to the stability he has been enjoying as the Chief Executive and Security Officer of the Heartbeat of the Nation.
Noting that his administration is gradually winding down, the Governor thanked the Muslim community of Edo state through the Otaru of Auchi for the cooperation he has enjoyed and enjoined them to continue in such positive note as same would further propel the state to loftier heights beyond his administration.
“It has become a tradition to come and break fast with you during the annual Ramadhan. We’ve done this since I became Governor in 2017 and we thank Almighty for giving us good health and life to be here again today.
“As you know, we’ve done this every year except during COVID and this is particularly significant for me because by the Grace of God this is the last Ramadhan I will come here as Governor.” He said.
The Governor talked about the state of the nation and noted that the coincidence of Lent fasting for Christians and Ramadhan Fasting for Muslims happening at the same time is a sign of better things to come while praying that the worship of followers of both faiths be accepted for the betterment of the Nation.
“It is quite instructive that this year, we are celebrating Lent at the same time, and coincidentally we will celebrate Easter and Sallah at the same time.
“…as we know, God does not make mistakes. There must be a reason for all of these coincidences.
“I believe that God Almighty will continue to have mercy on us, will continue to rain His Grace over us and our activities and no matter how difficult and trying times would be, our fervent prayers is that the Almighty will hear our prayers and have mercy on us -His people and our country Nigeria.” He said.
Governor Godwin Obaseki thanked God of the life of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh whom he described as a blessing to not just Auchi but to the state and the country and prayed that God continues to keep him hale and hearty so that his subjects and those beyond the shores of the community would continue to benefit from his wealth of experience, knowledge and good counsel.
“We cannot appreciate you enough for the support that you have given to us this last 8 years.
“Concerning the stability we have enjoyed, the frankness of advice you have given has been most invaluable.” He said while noting that it has been a great opportunity to have the Otaru of Auchi there for him through the years.
The elated Otaru of Auchi appreciated the Governor’s expression of gratitude and prayed for the continued growth of the Governor beyond his tenure as the Chief Admin Officer of the state -noting that the relationship he has enjoyed with the Governor has been cordial and affable.
