Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, the Auchi Polytechnic Rector has on Sunday assured of maximum security for staff and students in the event of the arrests of some suspects believed to be involved in the recent shootings within and around the campus.
While speaking with The Community’s Eye , he noted that all arrangements have been put in place to (in collaboration with all security authorities) secure the lives and properties of members of the Polytechnic community from any threat.
He noted that it would no longer be business as usual as it pertains to securing the perimeters and all jurisdictions of the Polytechnic -stating that some suspects linked with shootings on and off the Polytechnic campus have already been arrested.
“I have held meetings with all relevant authorities as it pertains to security and going forward, proactive measures have been put in place to ensure that there is no repeat of unwholesome activities that could truncate the peace we enjoy here.
“Arrests have been made and more will be made as the police together with their sister security agencies are on the tails of those who are trying to undermine the smooth running of this administration.
“I assure you that with all that with has been put in place, the Polytechnic is secured and our staff, students and guests are safe from any threat.” He said.

Sequel to this development, ABS News Network gathered that as at Sunday, no fewer than 3 suspects bearing sophisticated arms have been arrested in connection with the disruption of peace in and around Auchi Polytechnic. So far, normalcy has been restored to the institution as students and staff were seen going about their respective academic and administrative activities on Monday.
Recall that during the last anti-cult event held in Auchi Polytechnic as facilitated by Dr. S.S. Umar, the Rector denounced cultism and warned strongly against such activities on campus -noting that management will not tolerate any cult-related activity on campus.
