Commonwealth of Learning Graduates 38 MTs, MCs in Auchi as Tailors Union Laud Auchi Polytechnic Management

No fewer than 8 Master Trainers and 30 Master Craftsmen from Auchi Tailors’s Union have on Friday the 28th of June graduated from the Auchi Polytechnic Industry Advisory Committee’s online and physical training scheme as sponsored by the Commonwealth of Learning.

Held at the Registry Boardroom of Auchi Polytechnic’s Rectory, the event had the presence of Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, Auchi Polytechnic Rector , Mrs. F.I. Eshiotse, the Registrar, Dr. Muhammed Adamu Obomeghie, Deputy Rector Academics who doubles as the Chairman of the Polytechnic’s Industry Advisory Committee, Mr. Shittu Michael, the coordinator of Fashion Design Apprenticeship Programme.

 

Mr. Douglas Momanyi, Deputy Project Coordinator, National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, National Training Authority in Kenya together with Mr. Deji Oluwole from the National Business and Technical Education Board graced the occasion -where both experts encouraged the graduands to put to good use the knowledge gotten for the development of Nigeria’s Economy.

Dr. S.S. Umar lauded the push of Mr. Shittu Michael in ensuring that the programme took off from it beginning to the point of the graduation of those who made it through the rigours of the training.

He congratulated the graduands -noting that they have now become international tailors and fashion designers in view of the fact that they have gained the requisite exposure to new knowledge and new digital platforms through which their portfolio can be visible to potential clients the world over.

 

On his part, the Kenyan Deputy Coordinator, Mr. Douglas Momanyi appreciated the initiative as put up and run by Management of Auchi Polytechnic, congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to translate the quality of training gotten into better outputs and into training more apprentices who would by virtue of the training contribute their quota to the country’s advancement while advocating for an exchange programme where Nigerian students in the program can earn skills-in-demand in Kenya while those from Kenya would come to Nigeria to learn as well.

The Chairman of Auchi Polytechnic’s Industry Advisory Committee, Dr. M.A. Obomeghie appealed for conserted efforts on the part of the graduands to ensuring that what they have learned is put to good use thus making them good ambassadors of Auchi Polytechnic as they impart the world through their services while the NABTEB’s representative at the event, Mr. Deji appealed that graduands continue to develop more capacity in an ever evolving world to stay relevant.

 

Mr. Shittu Michael was commended by all as graduands gave testimonies of his unwavering support and encouragement throughout the cause of the programme.

The graduands lauded the polytechnic’s drive towards ensuring that hands and brains are truly developed for the advancement of the Nation and promised to explore the vistas of the new knowledge they have gotten.
